Beginners' Courses

 Tuition in earlier days

Before you can join this, or any other Archery GB affiliated club, you will need to attend a recognised beginners' course.

The club usually runs two beginners' courses each year. These take place over 6 weeks in the gym at Loreto College in St Albans.  They are on Saturdays from 4 - 6pm. The cost is £75.

We will usually accept juniors from the age of eight (if they are mature enough to take instruction). For children under 14 years old, a parent/guardian or responsible adult designated by the parent/guardian must be present at all sessions.  Seniors and juniors are taught together.

We require a completed junior consent form (PDF) for all juniors with a confirmed booking. (Word version).

All necessary equipment is provided by the club.  If you subsequently join Abbey Bowmen we have a free equipment hire scheme which covers the first couple of month's of your membership.  After this you will be expected to buy your own equipment, but coaches will give you advice on this.

Our next course will run 3rd November to 8th December 2018 (book here )

There are a few places left (for adults or 13+)

To join the interest list for future courses

please send your name, email address and a phone no.

(plus age if under 18) via our contact form.

You may want to try other clubs or archery shops if you do not want to wait until then.

(Do note that if you subsequently want to join Abbey you must have done a course with at least 4 sessions of tuition, not on one day or over one weekend).
